• As I had the bracelet from a very young age, I had to ask my parents about its origins. Their stories were really conflicting. My dad said he bought it for me, but my mom said he originally bought it for her before she gave it to me. So I don’t really know how it came about. But I do remember never taking it off, and fiddling with the teddy bears on them all the time. One day, the links wore down and the bracelet spoiled. I do not know why we did not get it fixed. Perhaps it was not easy since half the bears went missing. I vaguely remember being quite sad and bugging my mom: “When can I wear it again?”

We ended up storing the bracelet away for almost 20 years. There was a rush of memories when I saw it again when looking through the safe. I would love for the bracelet to have a new life and to be able to wear it again.

  • This bracelet came to us broken and tarnished, yet heavy with meaning. Once worn all the time, it holds a special place in its owner’s heart. Such is the beauty of jewellery—besides being objects of adornment, they are vessels of memories and sentiments.

We wanted to remember what was broken, and celebrate its subsequent repair. To replace the damaged link in a manner faithful to the original, a rubber mould of the teddy bear was made. But instead of casting it in the original 925 Silver, the new one is in 18K Yellow Gold. The clear difference in colour and material alludes to the story that lies behind this piece. Gold emphasises the preciousness of this bracelet, while the diamond set at the heart of the bear symbolises what is truly important.

Although gold and silver are not the toughest of metals, their pliable properties make them enduring artefacts. We hope that this bracelet can be passed down from one generation to the next, and that its significance will continue to grow.
